London Earls Court Hotel has announced its reposition as a co-branded Mercure and Ibis property, following a multi-million pound refurbishment over the last year.
Merging two of Accor’s brands, the co-located dual branded property will be known as Mercure and Ibis London Earls Court Hotel and will feature 226 Ibis rooms and 282 Mercure rooms, a new restaurant named Barnaby’s, as well as a well-appointed meeting space by Mercure.
The property’s reposition will be completed in phases, with a soft launch to begin at the end of July 2024. Additional rooms under the Mercure brand will be added later this year, while the project is expected to be completed in early 2025.
The Mercure rooms will feature a ‘Layers of Time’ theme having been inspired by the Tardis of Doctor Who, which stands in front of nearby Earl’s Court station.
The rooms will include minimalist design inspired by local culture. The hotel will also feature a range of renovated room types under the Ibis brand to cater for families and any travellers’ needs. All of the guest rooms will be en-suite and equipped with environmentally friendly air-cooling.
The renovated hotel will also boast versatile meeting spaces capable of accommodating up to 1,200 guests, making it ideal for conferences and social events. Additionally, the pillar-free Grand Ballroom, with a capacity for up to 800 guests, will be ideal for gala dinners and other evening functions.
Meanwhile, the hotel will offer five more smaller rooms suitable for business meetings with capacity for up to 50 guests each. The communal areas within the hotel have also been designed to cater to both business and leisure guests.
In addition, Barnaby’s, the on-site restaurant and bar, has been designed in collaboration with Paris Society. Central to the theme is the character of Barnaby, who returns to London to enjoy his 60s at home after spending many years adventuring abroad and discovering the world.
The restaurant will serve home dining with a twist, using overseas cooking methods and spices, and with seasonal produce at its heart. The menu will feature a variety of British cuisine classics as well as some dishes from overseas. Signature dishes will include Barnaby’s Chorizo Roll, Spiced Fish Pie and Limoncello Caprese. Meanwhile, the bar menu will include classic cocktails from around the world twisted with local touches.
David Hayden, general manager at Mercure and Ibis London Earls Court Hotel, said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome visitors to experience our property and to enjoy a home away from home. The multi-million-pound redevelopment underlines our commitment to providing exceptional experiences for all of our guests. We are delighted to offer an affordable yet comfortable hotel to those visiting London who can benefit from our excellent location, close proximity to some of the city’s most popular attractions and outstanding transport links.”
