Facility and aviation services provider, ABM, has taken significant steps to strengthen and integrate its team. The moves are the latest in a variety of strategic changes made under the leadership of Richard Sykes who joined the business early in 2023, setting out an ambitious plan for growth in the UK and Ireland.

With the rapid expansion of the Technical Solutions business being central to delivering ABM’s growth agenda, strategic roles have been announced. Tony Hampson has joined from Amey as Vice President of Operations to oversee the Technical Solutions division, focusing on the expansion of hard services business to complement ABM’s existing and well-earned reputation for soft services and aviation solutions.

Nick Nothard has also been promoted to Commercial Director for Business & Industry UK, where he will lead commercial and contractual management.

On soft services, David Donovan has been promoted to Vice President of Operations, while continuing to manage all aspects of the strategic relationship with Transport for London (TfL), overseeing four major contracts.

Campbell Murdoch, Business & Industry (B&I) Managing Director at ABM said: “The opportunity for the B&I division is significant. We have a keen focus on leveraging our world class reputation for soft services as a platform to bolster our hard services business; and Tony’s extensive experience means he is well positioned to lead the team in achieving our ambitious plans.

“Earlier this year we were awarded a significant contract with Transport for London (TfL) to provide mechanical and electrical (M&E) services across the London Underground network. It marked the strategic expansion of ABM’s longstanding relationship with TfL, providing cleaning services since 2017 and is a clear demonstration of the value we can offer our customers. David and Nic were pivotal to this win and will continue to bring this growth mindset to the team in their new roles.”

ABM has demonstrated significant strategic movement over the past 18 months, designed to support the company’s drive to move deeper into the focus sectors of Transport, Business & Industry, Public Sector, Distribution and Manufacturing.

Aligning teams has been a key focus in this endeavour, demonstrated further by the recent opening of brand-new headquarters, uniting teams from two West London sites at World Business Centre Heathrow Airport. The 14,500 sq ft space has been designed with the One ABM ambition in mind; to foster collaborative working and an enterprise culture.

Richard Sykes, SVP & President for the UK and Ireland comments: “Last year, we unveiled our vision for the One ABM approach, and we’ve made significant progress towards realising it. Relocating to our new headquarters and consolidating support services and functions marks a crucial milestone in ABM’s new chapter.

“Every member of the ABM team plays a vital role, and close collaboration is essential for fostering a thriving culture. We are now even better equipped to continue advancing our growth agenda, leveraging our strengths to delve deeper into our target sectors.”

This is the latest investment into ABM’s people and the business’ vision for a more aligned culture. It follows the move of the London Bridge office into the Transport for London (TfL) North Greenwich offices and the Irish Blackjack Promotions move into the ABM Ireland HQ.
