Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines Extend Alliance for Five Years

Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have announced a five-year extension of their joint venture partnership, solidifying their commitment to offering passengers greater connectivity and travel options.

The agreement, authorized by New Zealand‘s Associate Minister of Transport, Matt Doocey, will remain in effect until March 2029.

This extended partnership builds upon a decade of successful collaboration, during which the airlines have increased seat capacity between New Zealand and Singapore by nearly 50%.

This includes adding up to three daily services between Auckland and Singapore, and a daily service between Christchurch and Singapore.

“Since the alliance began in 2015, we’ve jointly transported over 4.6 million passengers between New Zealand, Singapore, and beyond,” said Mike Williams, Chief Transformation and Alliances Officer at Air New Zealand. “This partnership allows New Zealanders to access Singapore Airlines’ extensive network, connecting them to Europe, India, and Southeast Asia.”

With the extension, the airlines plan to offer a fourth daily seasonal service between Auckland and Singapore, subject to regulatory approval. This service will operate from October 27, 2024, to March 29, 2025, catering to the peak holiday season.

“This extension allows us to provide even more options for our customers traveling between Singapore and New Zealand, as well as to domestic destinations within New Zealand and around the world,” said Dai Haoyu, Acting Senior Vice President (Marketing and Planning) at Singapore Airlines. “The additional seasonal service exemplifies our commitment to meeting the growing demand for both business and leisure travel.”

The additional service will bring the total to 38 return flights weekly between New Zealand and Singapore during peak months, offering over 893,000 seats annually. This extension strengthens the airlines’ position in the region, offering passengers greater convenience and access to a wider network.
