Beach deal: Fly nonstop to Bermuda from NYC, Fort Lauderdale for as low as $289

Bermuda is one of those places everyone should visit. From the legendary pink-sand beaches to the excellent snorkeling in places like Tobacco Bay and the picturesque sunsets, the self-governing British Overseas Territory has a well-earned reputation for being a great destination.

A new fare sale allows you to pack your bags and head to Bermuda. Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, United Airlines and the new low-cost airline BermudAir are all offering nonstop flights at discounted rates from Fort Lauderdale, Newark and New York City. We found several fares for less than $300 round-trip — an excellent price for Bermuda.

The travel window for this deal is from April through June. Those months are some of the best times to visit because the weather is warm and the crowds are light.

As with many fare sales, this one involves basic economy tickets. With JetBlue and United’s basic fares, that means no free carry-on bag. Expect to pay around $45-$50 each way to check luggage.

If you live in South Florida and crave a more relaxing beach experience than you’ll find on South Beach, May is a good month to take off. You can fly nonstop out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) in Bermuda’s capital of Hamilton for $289 on BermudAir. Unlike JetBlue and United, Bermudair allows a free carry-on with this fare.

If you live in the tri-state area, this sale gives you many options to save money on your Bermuda airfare. We found lots of sub-$300 round-trip tickets out of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in April. Take this $293 itinerary on United, for example. Even adding in the cost of checked luggage, you’re still saving a good bit of money.

United has the same $293 price for nonstops from Newark to Bermuda available in May, too.

We found the same discounted fare for nonstop flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City. JetBlue had several round-trip tickets available in May for $293; these are Blue-tier fares, which means you get a free carry-on. Delta also offers the same route at the same price.

Bottom line

We found the best availability in this sale in May, especially for travel out of New York City. However, there are still some deals available in June. You just need to have flexible travel plans and a little patience to find them.

Oh, and when you do make the trip, make sure to visit the Swizzle Inn and enjoy a rum swizzle.
