Caledonian Leisure acquires New Southlands Hotel

Caledonian Leisure has announced the acquisition of New Southlands Hotel in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, for an undisclosed sum.

The group has also appointed Caledonian Tours to operate the hotel as part of its growing Caledonian Hotel Collection.

Located in the South Bay area of the town, the hotel has 58 bedrooms and a “substantial” food and beverage space, as well as its own car park.

The hotel is known as a popular accommodation choice in Scarborough, the largest and most frequented of all of the seaside resorts along the Yorkshire Coast, which include Whitby, Bridlington and Filey.

Mark Worley, director in Christie and Co’s North Hotel team, said: “This sale is another illustration of the ongoing demand for hotels and hospitality businesses, particularly those in tourist and leisure-led locations such as National Parks and seaside towns.

“The hotel is one of the 33-assets put to market as part of the Coast and Country Portfolio. The hotels have received very strong interest to date, and a very limited number of these assets remain available, so we invite any interested parties to get in touch.”

David McDonald, finance director for Caledonian Leisure Ltd, added: “We are delighted to welcome the newly-renamed Caledonian New Southlands Hotel to our growing Caledonian Hotel Collection.

“As ever, we would like to thank Christie and Co for their support as we acquire our fourth hotel in the last 12 months, from their portfolio of available assets.”
