Chestnut Group to open The Maltings in August

East Anglian hospitality group Chestnut Group has announced that its new hotel, The Maltings in Weybourne, North Norfolk, will open its doors on 5 August.

The Maltings’ restoration has been a three-year project, taking inspiration from its North Norfolk location and its history as both a supplier to local brewers and an artist’s studio.

The refurbishment includes renovations in the 28 rooms spread across the main house, the old stable blocks that reflect the “spirit of the area”, and the double-height restaurant, The Grain Store.

Rooms are designed with individual styles, with “bold colours” sitting alongside “delicate pastels”. The lounge spaces are the heart of the hotel and a place for guests to enjoy food and drinks.

Philip Turner, founder of Chestnut Group and who has overseen its transformation, said: “A Big House should be a one-of-a-kind place to stay. The Maltings will be just that. We will welcome guests who want an elevated experience. By that, we mean an environment people enjoy being in, focusing on high-quality ingredients, service, and style – but at the same time, a setting that is effortlessly relaxed.

“We want guests to feel at home here. We want to be a hub for locals as well as for people who come from much further afield. We want to be the home of good times shared with family and friends.”

Guests can also discover The Bottle Shop, selling a selection of curated wines for guests to take home.  The Maltings restaurant, The Grain Store, features an open kitchen and high ceilings, with a menu focused on “classic British fare”.

Scott Taylor, head chef, said: “Our food is uncomplicated. We will use the finest, freshest ingredients and support local farmers and producers wherever we can.”
