El Capitan Hotel partners with Lasting Adventures

Located in downtown Merced, in California’s Central Valley, known as “the Gateway to Yosemite,” the historic, boutique hotel property now offers a package providing guests unique access to Yosemite National Park through discounted day hikes with a personal guide. The historic El Capitan Hotel has announced a partnership with Groveland-based, outdoor guide service Lasting Adventures, offering a discount on private guided day hikes through nearby Yosemite National Park to overnight guests as a part of its bookable “Lasting Adventures” hotel package. The charming, renovated property in downtown Merced – an area known as “the Gateway to Yosemite” – is frequented as a stop for travellers seeking adventure in the park. A less-crowded basecamp for day trips, the 114-room, historic property adds modern, upscale hospitality to the mix, offering the relaxation, warm hospitality, and luxury of a boutique hotel with exceptional amenities and dining offerings.

Through booking, El Capitan Hotel guests will receive accommodations for two nights, an exclusive code to book any Lasting Adventures Yosemite Day Hike at a 15% discount, a box lunch for two to bring to the park, a monetary credit to use at any one of the hotel’s food and beverage outlets, and a themed welcome amenity. Each Lasting Adventures day hike led by a professional guide is private and custom designed to accommodate various skill levels and interests, giving El Capitan guests incredibly personalised access to one of America’s most stunning natural wonders. With Lasting Adventures, guests can trek up and down Half Dome, journey through giant sequoias, summit Clouds Rest, feel the mist of Yosemite Falls, and more with a variety of experiences to choose from. A Lasting Adventures hike also guarantees entrance into the national park, even when reservations can be challenging to secure over busy summer months.

“At El Capitan Hotel, we feel so lucky to be in the heart of the Central Valley, and welcome guests from all over the world who stop through on their way to experience Yosemite National Park,” shares Managing Director Robin Donovan.

El Capitan Hotel sits in the heart of downtown Merced in CAlifornia’s Central Valley, providing accessibility to local entertainment, shopping and retail, in addition to convenient access to Yosemite National Park. The hotel’s signature restaurant Rainbird offers artisanal fare, wine, and spirits that pay homage to the ranchers, farmers, cheesemakers, bakers, distillers, and winemakers of the region. Hotel guests can also find bites and craft cocktails off the lobby at Native Son, and enjoy live entertainment just down the block at Mainzer, a restored 1938 theater with upscale American comfort food, a self-serve beer bar, and a retro-gaming area.

Towering granite majesties, ancient sequoia groves, and canyons deeper than the Grand – the Central Valley plays a key role in accessing the region’s national park and offers outdoor attractions of its own. Just outside the gates of Yosemite, Madera County has water sports at Lake Bass, mammoth bones at the Fossil Discovery Center, and tastings with a view along the Madera Wine Trail to discover. Fresno not only has access to Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia national parks within 90 minutes of the urban hub, but it also claims the quirky-but-cool Forestiere Underground Gardens. Visalia has easy access to Sequoia and Kings Canyon, but is also home to a beautiful conservation area for valley oaks.
