UK: The Edinburgh Collection, part of Palm Holdings, will reopen the Haymarket Hub Hotel this June under IHG Hotels & Resorts’ midscale Garner Hotels brand.
Following an investment of more than £2 million, the Haymarket Hub Hotel located at 7 Clifton Terrace will be refurbished and redesigned by Spacebrand. The transformation will be led by project management firm Fitzsimons.
In line with IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow ESG pledge, the hotel will incorporate Verdant’s VX4 Smart Thermostats by Copeland. The AI-driven systems help to optimise energy efficiency by adjusting HVAC usage based on occupancy sensors.
Haymarket Hub Hotel will continue its social responsibility efforts, having partnered with the City of Edinburgh Council and Bethany Trust to provide temporary accommodation. Under the Garner relaunch, the hotel will donate £1 per guest stay for a limited time to Action Against Hunger.
Sheetal Kapoor, CEO of Palm Holdings, said: “The transformation of Haymarket Hub Hotel into Garner Hotels by IHG marks an exciting new chapter for this prime Edinburgh property. This investment reflects our commitment to modern design, sustainability, and meeting the demand of all our stakeholders. We are thrilled to work alongside IHG to bring this innovative concept to life in Scotland’s capital.”
Ricky Kapoor, managing director of Palm Holdings, added: “Introducing Garner Hotels to the Edinburgh market through the Haymarket Hub Hotel is a testament to our long-term vision for quality and design. Collaborating with IHG, along with the expertise of Fitzsimons and Spacebrand, has ensured that every aspect of this refurbishment meets our shared values. We eagerly anticipate welcoming guests to experience this dynamic new brand.”
Matt Walton, head of development, UK & Ireland, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are delighted to be working with Palm Holdings on this exciting project and to bring our Garner Hotels brand to the vibrant Edinburgh market. The conversion of the Haymarket Hub Hotel is a true reflection of our commitment to thoughtful growth and giving back to the community, all while offering reliable, comfortable stays that guests can always count on.
“We look forward to opening the doors to our first Garner Hotels property in Scotland later this year as we expand our partnership with Palm Holdings into new markets beyond the US, Canada and England,” he added.
Garner Hotels was first launched in August 2023 as a midscale conversion brand, designed for “value driven travellers of all ages”.
Garner Hotel Haymarket Edinburgh will join a global portfolio of 23 open hotels and 94 in development. In Europe, the hotel will join 61 open and pipeline properties.
