UK: Business property adviser Christie & Co is marketing the country house Hintlesham Hall Hotel & Spa, located in Suffolk, off a guide price of £7.5 million.

The Grade I-listed Elizabethan hotel is set across 7.8 hectares in the Suffolk countryside. The property features 32 luxury ensuite bedrooms as well as function and spa facilities.

In 1971, cookery school owner Robert Carrier filmed the TV shows Carrier & Friends and Carrier’s Kitchen at the property. In 1983 it was then sold to cookery writer Ruth Watson, who went on to present TV programmes such as The Hotel Inspector and Country House Rescue.

Now under family ownership, facilities at the property have been upgraded with planning permission secured for a self-contained function suite, and listed building consent has been granted for an enhanced spa development to the rear of the Coach House.

Has Modi, owner of Hintlesham Hall Hotel & Spa, said: “Whilst it is of course sad to be selling a business with which we have been involved with for many years, now is the right time. The business is well positioned with value enhancement opportunities for a new owner. Most importantly we would like to thank the staff, with whom we have shared this memorable journey, for their hard work and dedication over the years.”

Christie & Co’s local regional director, Ed Bellfield, said: “Hintlesham Hall Hotel evokes such affection from country house hotel guests and operators. The beautiful setting of the Grade I-listed building offers so much more by way of a range of asset management opportunities to extend and develop the range of services at the property. The reputation and success of the business is testament to the continued re-investment and family stewardship over recent decades, combined with its enviable location. We wish Has well on his retirement and the closing of a long-established chapter.”
