Korean Air Orders 33 Airbus A350 Jets

Korean Air recently became a customer of the A350 Family, having placed a firm order with Airbus for 33 aircraft. The order consists of 27 A350-1000s and six A350-900s.

The A350, with its exceptional range, is capable of servicing all of the airline’s existing intercontinental routes while consuming 25% less fuel and emitting fewer carbon emissions than older aircraft models. Furthermore, the extended range of the A350 will allow the airline to consider exploring new long-haul destinations.

Jason Yoo, Chief Safety and Operating Officer and EVP at Korean Air, expressed assurance that the incorporation of the A350 into their aircraft collection will enhance operational efficiencies and elevate the overall travel experience for their passengers.

Benoit de Saint Exupéry, the EVP of Sales for Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, expressed that the order from Korean Air is a significant endorsement for the A350 as the leading long-range aircraft. Korean Air will benefit from enhanced efficiency in their operations, including reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions. The A350 will also provide an excellent platform for the airline to elevate its in-flight experience and world-class service. Airbus appreciates the continued trust of Korean Air in their products and looks forward to seeing the A350 adorned in the airline’s distinctive livery.

The A350 Family is widely recognized as the long-range product line that boasts passenger versions that can fly up to 9,700 nm / 18,000 km without stopping. With the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines, the aircraft utilizes advanced materials like composites, titanium, and modern aluminum alloys, making it lighter and more cost-efficient. As a result, it achieves an average fuel consumption and carbon emissions reduction of approximately 25% compared to previous generation aircraft of similar size.

As of the end of February, the A350 Family had garnered 1,240 orders from 59 global customers.
