Lewtrenchard Manor goes bust

The company behind Lewtrenchard Manor has announced that it has entered voluntary liquidation.

The family-run hotel closed back in February and leaves unpaid debts of £400k which are unlikely to be recovered.

Companies house documents show the company has left £23,700 in cash but it is unlikely that other assets will be realised.

The hotel suddenly stopped taking bookings back in February before a spokesperson confirmed the hotel’s permanent closure, citing “difficult trading conditions”.

The hotel was first acquired by Sue and James Murray and their young family in 1988.

The family took a nine year break from ownership of the hotel but it was returned to them prior to its liquidation.

Lewtrenchard Manor is home to 13 individually designed rooms and suites, as well as a 2 AA Rosette fine-dining restaurant.
