Like Magic appoints HR Group’s tech chief as Senior Product Owner in latest strategic hire

GΕΡΜΑΝΥ – Like Magic has appointed HR Group’s former tech chief to Senior Product Owner as the employee and guest experience platform prepares to complete on a raft of new partnerships this summer.

Adrian Schmidt, who was Vice President of Digital Development and Strategy at HR Group – the fastest-growing hotel group in Europe – is widely recognised as one of the leading hospitality tech experts in the DACH region.

At HR Group, Adrian lead a team responsible for implementing innovative digital solutions and enhancing guest experiences at over 150 hotels across Europe. Previous roles saw him develop and deliver a range of lead digital initiatives at Vienna House, Vagabond Club GmbH & Falkensteiner.

At Like Magic, Adrian will leverage his strong business and technical expertise to further develop the platform from both a strategic and an operational perspective, in addition to exploring and implementing new business opportunities.

Adrian Schmidt, Senior Product Owner at Like Magic, said: “Like Magic offers a unique, innovative and holistic approach to solving some of the most persistent challenges in the hospitality industry. To join at such a pivotal time for the company is hugely exciting. Having worked extensively on a huge range of digital transformation projects across the industry, I understand the impact that intuitively-developed technologies can have on both guest experiences and operational workflows. I’m really looking forward to working with the talented team at Like Magic, developing and implementing strategies that will keep the platform at the cutting edge of hospitality tech.”

Markus Feller, CEO at Like Magic, added: “Adrian’s deep understanding of technology and digital transformation in the hospitality industry means Like Magic is now primed for rapid growth. Adrian has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive impactful digital initiatives that enhance both guest experiences and operational efficiencies – aligning perfectly with Like Magic’s mission to revolutionise the hospitality sector. I, therefore, have no doubt that his leadership and vision will be instrumental to Like Magic’s ongoing success, as we continue to push the boundaries of what technology can achieve in hospitality.”

Adrian’s appointment comes after Like Magic won the Innovative Use of Technology Award at the prestigious Serviced Apartment Awards last month. The platform is also set to finalise several new partnerships in the coming months, driven by growing demand for cutting-edge, automotive technology in the hospitality sector.

Like Magic’s platform brings a booking engine, guest platform, employee interface and monitoring tools all into one place, creating a centre of operations for hotel management. This unlocks a completely digital guest journey for guests if they prefer.

In addition to enabling staff to perform 80% of their daily tasks from one single system, Like Magic also allows guests to carry out a range of actions without staff assistance. These range from checking in, ordering food, requesting additional linen or pillows, and creating keyless room passes – requiring only a smartphone.

The platform allows staff to run operations using a traffic light system of notifications and recommended actions, making the whole process of customer service and property management much more automated.
