Marcel Wanders designs Budapest debut for Kimpton

IHG‘s Kimpton BEM Budapest will begin welcoming guests in July 2024, showcasing designs that blend Hungary’s history with contemporary elegance.

The property has been designed by Marcel Wanders, who has transformed a historic 19th century mansion into a sophisticated 127-room enclave.

The new Kimpton will highlight authentic Hungarian flavours at its all-day lobby-level bar and restaurant, signature chef-driven Mediterranean restaurant and ‘secret’ rooftop oasis with a lush garden.

Kimpton BEM Budapest will also comprise a dedicated wellness area complete with a fitness centre, hot tub and steam room, while event space highlights include an expansive ballroom and three more intimate venues for smaller meetings.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of Kimpton BEM Budapest, a first-of-its-kind luxury lifestyle hotel for Hungary’s capital city,” says Attila AE Domby, General Manager of the hotel. “We are excited to invite travellers to explore the cultural marvel that is Budapest through a new, local and design-led lens, and introduce them to the wonders and legends that await across this still yet-to-be-discovered European destination.”
