Destination Asia recently named Matthew Smith as its next CEO.

Beginning 1 August, Smith will take the position over from Monique Arnoux who helmed the destination management company (DMC) for seven years.

According to Destination Asia’s divisional vice-president Sebastien Doussin, Smith brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as a regional general manager, and has gained respect from his peers in the industry.

Doussin said: “[Smith’s] extensive background in meetings, events, and DMC activities across various well-known travel businesses speaks for itself. Having worked with him for several years, I’ve seen first-hand his talent for navigating our industry, inspiring our teams, and driving strategic vision and innovation.”

To go beyond expectations

For his part, Smith remarked that he looks forward to collaborating with Destination Asia’s talented teams to shape the DMC’s future even and to continue to go beyond clients’ expectations.

Smith said: “I am honoured to lead a pioneering company like Destination Asia and to build upon our exceptional product offerings and industry-leading services provided to clients worldwide.”

Forward-thinking for leadership

A part of Destination Asia since his initial appointment back in 2018, Smith worked in the key sectors of meetings and events, tailormade travel, and cruise.

Smith’s forward-thinking approach helped strengthen Destination Asia’s footprint, drive innovation, and boost growth within the DMC.
