Northumberland’s Ninebanks Hostel and Chalet hits the market

Ninebanks Hostel and Chalet in Northumberland has hit the market with an asking price of £675k.

Set in a secluded location in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Ninebanks Hostel and Chalet is a destination for holiday makers and leisure guests visiting Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District National Park and nearby market towns such as Hexham and Alston.

The property comprises a four-bedroom 18th Century cottage, used by the owner as living accommodation, which features views over the valley and has retained many of its original features, including oak beams and a wood burning stove.

The hostel itself is a separate 18th Century building featuring six ensuite bedrooms that sleep up to 28 guests, along with a kitchen, sitting room and dining room for guests.

In addition, there is a two double bedroom chalet with each room featuring an ensuite shower and wood burning stove.

The current owner, Pauline Elliott has operated the hostel for 33 years together with her partner, Ian Baker.

Elliott said: “It’s been a wonderful place to live and raise a family. We shall miss all our guests and the local community who love having the hostel on the doorstep, but it’s time to move on.”

Handling the sale for Christie and Co is Mark Worley, director – Hotels North, who added: “The popularity and demand for lifestyle businesses has increased dramatically over recent years. Ninebanks provides a superb opportunity for someone to enjoy an idyllic way of life and versatile working patterns but with the added advantage of earning a healthy income to boot.”
