Oxford’s five-star Old Parsonage Hotel has undergone a six week refurbishment of its terrace, including an £80,000 investment.
The walled terrace at Parsonage Grill now has a brand new look that features an “exotic éclat” through the traditional 17th Century setting.
Inspired by the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, the new terrace in the Grade II listed building now includes “vibrant” colours, “brilliant” whites and big-leaved foliage that nod to the Moroccan garden sanctuary once owned by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.
“Brightly painted” terracotta pots fill the space with banana plants, hostas, cordylines and fatsias. The teak furniture and York Stone paving also match two brand new parasols in the middle of the terrace.
The new revamped terrace will be open from 7am to 11pm everyday for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, drinks and dinner. A new cocktail “It’s all about Yves” has also been created to “celebrate” the new look.
Founded in 1989 by Jeremy Mogford, Parsonage Grill is a cotswolds-esque space located within the Old Parsonage Hotel. The Parsonage Grill and its private dining space, the “Pike Room”, display a selection of oil paintings, stone fireplaces and a “Bloomsbury club ambience” throughout.
Of the revamped terrace, Mogford said: “Yves Saint Laurent’s visionary use of colour and his love for Moroccan design were a huge inspiration. I want the Parsonage terrace to feel like an oasis in the centre of the city, just like our other beautiful terraces at Quod and Gees.”
