OTO Development welcomes two new Vice Presidents

SPARTANBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA – Misty Ross has joined OTO Development as Vice President, Sales & Marketing, bringing a wealth of industry expertise and a well-earned reputation for excellence.

OTO Development, part of The Johnson Group, is a private company that develops, owns, and operates upscale select-service hotels throughout the continental United States. In her new role, Ross will oversee business development, revenue generation, and profit maximization across OTO’s owned and managed hotel portfolios.

“Misty is a dynamic addition to OTO Development, bringing both enthusiasm and expertise to our leadership team as we lean into aggressive goals,” says CEO Todd Turner. “She has a proven track record of developing and executing strategic initiatives that drive revenue and enhance brand reputation.”

A graduate of Xavier University, Ross launched her hospitality career with Marriott International. She joined Concord Hospitality in 2008, where she held sales and marketing roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as Regional Vice President of Sales.

Sixteen years at Concord provided Ross with extensive experience in hotel openings, transitions, and acquisitions as well as management contracts. She is noted for a deep understanding of market dynamics which – coupled with an innovative approach to customer engagement — enables her to identify and capitalize on emerging trends and opportunities.

“Joining OTO Development is such a compelling next step in my career journey,” says Ross, whose background comprises an array of hotel categories – full-service, independent, lifestyle/luxury, and select-service – with brands including Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, and Choice. “I am eager to leverage my skills, knowledge, and insights to foster the company’s continued success while maximizing its potential to become the market leader.”

As Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Ross will be based out of OTO Development’s corporate headquarters in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Away from the office, Ross is enthusiastic about gardening, boating, and traveling as well as spending time with her family: fiancé Brian, son Brennan, and a German shepherd/rottweiler mix named BoBo. She is a long-time volunteer with Feed The Children and Habitat for Humanity.

Cheryl Sinclair is new Vice President, Human Resources

Cheryl Sinclair has joined OTO Development as Vice President, Human Resources. “OTO is poised for growth, making this an ideal time to enhance our Human Resources department,” says Todd Turner. “Cheryl brings fresh insights from a variety of industry sectors that will be instrumental in guiding our HR strategies into the future.”

Sinclair’s human resources career spans the lodging, cruise and travel, and insurance industries. She spent nearly two decades with Farmers Insurance, where she held roles of increasing responsibility including AVP, Human Resources, before moving into executive positions at Princess Cruises, Buckle Insurance and, most recently, MCR Hotels, where she served as VP, Human Resources.

Over the years, Sinclair has earned a reputation as a collaborative, engaging, and innovative thought partner. She has a proven ability to drive human resources initiatives that deliver positive results at companies of all sizes.

“I have a passion for leading diverse teams through complex transformation and growth,” says Sinclair, who holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Texas Tech University as well as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certificate from HRCI. “I have long admired OTO as a company with strong core values, and I’m delighted by the opportunity to come aboard to enhance the employee experience, drive strong business results, and create an environment where everyone thrives.”
