Pan Pacific London appoints new executive chef

Pan Pacific London Hotel has appointed Adam Bateman as its new executive chef.

With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Bateman brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the heart of the city.

He will be responsible for all food operations across the hotel and its F&B outlets, including its signature Southeast Asian restaurant Straits Kitchen, and its stand-alone grab-and-go Shiok!, along with in-room dining and banqueting offerings.

He joins Pan Pacific London from The Grand Hotel, Birmingham, where he held the position of culinary director, helming the relaunch of the hotel’s F&B concepts following its £50m restoration.

Before this, he worked as group operations and development chef UKL & Ireland for InterContinental Hotels, working on various brands including Kimpton. His success in this role saw him shortlisted as a finalist for Chef of the Year at the 2022 Hotel Cateys.

Other positions have included group executive chef for The Hotel Collection, a group of 21 unique hotels across the UK where he launched a chef apprenticeship scheme while driving revenue and profitability.

Passionate about the hospitality industry, he is involved with various boards and programmes including Springboard Future Chef, Nestlé Toque d’Or, and the Acorn Scholarship, and as chairman at the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, a government advisory board for Level 3 Pastry Chef Trailblazers.

Regarding his appointment Bateman said: “I am thrilled to be returning to the capital and taking on a new challenge as executive chef at Pan Pacific London. I look forward to collaborating with all chef teams across all outlets to continue to elevate the already superb culinary experiences across the hotel’s F&B outlets.”

John Kelly, hotel manager at Pan Pacific London, added: “We are truly delighted to welcome Adam to Pan Pacific London; his extensive experience in developing hotel F&B concepts, from fine dining to banqueting to children’s menus, means he will be a great asset to our team. Hospitality is at the heart of everything we do at Pan Pacific London, and I’m thrilled Adam shares our passion for delivering stellar F&B experiences to our guests.”
