Radisson Hotel Group has signed a new hotel, the Radisson RED Birmingham Edgbaston Stadium, located at one of the top cricket grounds in the UK.
The new hotel is expected to open in the second quarter of 2027 and will feature 146 guest rooms, “each reflecting Radisson RED’s vibrant signature style and design”.
The site will be incorporated into Edgbaston Stadium, a famous cricket ground which has a 25,000 visitor capacity and is home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
More than half of the rooms will overlook the cricket ground, while several rooms will have balconies and can be used as hospitality boxes during matches, and as additional meeting spaces for events.
A restaurant and bar will be located on the rooftop floor, overlooking the cricket ground. From the restaurant, guests will have direct access to an outside terrace offering panoramic views of Birmingham.
Adela Cristea, vice president, Business Development UK, Ireland and Nordics at Radisson Hotel Group said: “We are proud to have been chosen as hotel partner and are thrilled to be part of this stunning project. The Radisson RED brand is the ultimate brand for this lively location. We truly see a great potential with combining hospitality and sport events for the benefit of guests, clients and partners.”
Craig Flindall, Edgbaston chief operating officer, added: “We’re delighted to partner with Radisson Hotel Group. Radisson RED’s upscale lifestyle theme is a perfect fit for our vision of the stadium’s ambitious Masterplan project.
“The redevelopment will cement our position as one of the country’s few premier stadia and hotel complexes and offer a genuine destination experience for people wanting to visit Birmingham or the West Midlands.”
