Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, the iconic 92-year-old luxury hotel in Cambodia, has opened a monthslong exhibition spotlighting extraordinary Khmer artists in partnership with Tribe Art Gallery in Siem Reap.

The exhibition, which opened on May 9 with an exclusive, invitation-only event at the hotel, will run through Dec. 31 with a rotation of top Cambodian artists whose works will be displayed in the public areas of Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, including 1932 restaurant, Café d’Angkor, the Conservatory, the iconic Elephant Bar and in the lobby area.

Two remarkable artists, Nak Noy and Prom Ponlue, are kicking off the exhibition with their paintings displayed in the hotel’s exquisitely appointed Kravan Room for a period of one week, before being moved to other public areas of the hotel.

Nak Noy’s artwork embodies a dreamlike escapism, inviting viewers to abandon reality for new realms. His unique style stems from his vivid imagination. Born and raised in Siem Reap, Nak Noy began making art as a child after he admired his sister’s drawings.

Prom Ponlue’s works aim to breathe life into forgotten culture and feature a strong connection with nature and his beloved homeland. Within his world, art  is the only horizon, and he welcomes viewers to experience his unique visions full of peace, freedom and love.

Prom Ponlue and Nak Noy are both represented by Tribe Art Gallery and curator Nat Di-Maggio.

Other acclaimed artists will be featured as the year continues.

“Siem Reap has long been Cambodia’s cultural heart. It is full of historical importance and home to some of humanity’s most profound achievements. Artistic styles born here have withstood the test of centuries, while inspiring countless artists from around the world,” General Manager Joseph Colina said.

“What better place to showcase the next generation of artists who hail from this special city? Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor is proud to work with Tribe Art Gallery as we introduce our guests to some of Cambodia’s most outstanding contemporary artists and their work,” Colina added.

Earlier this year, the hotel unveiled a series of exclusive ‘Curated Journeys’ offering guests new ways to experience Siem Reap’s rich culture and history, along with an extraordinary on-site ‘Resort Program’ that showcases heritage and traditions in the hotel. The local artists participating in the exhibition will personally guide art tours at the hotel on special occasions. ‘The Art Affair’ will be part of the Raffles Resort Program.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor was named one of the world’s ‘500 Best Hotels’ by Travel + Leisure for a third-consecutive year in April.
