The Albion hotel in the Isle of Wight has reopened its doors following a £6m refurbishment.
The 40-bedroom boutique hotel has been “fully” transformed, restored and modernised, whilst still paying homage to its Victorian origins, which date back to the middle of the 1700s.
Every aspect of the refurbishment has been designed “with comfort in mind”, with 36 of the 40 bedrooms offering a beach or coastal view and a balcony or shared terrace to sit out. All of the rooms have been decorated in a “Victorian chic style”, using coastal colours to match the surroundings.
The hotel now also features a new 120-seat restaurant called The Rock, a public coastal style bar, a residents private lounge and a private dining room for small groups.
Under head chef Adam Wells, who trained with Marco Pierre and Tom Kerridge, the restaurant uses local fresh produce. The menu features over 90% ingredients from the Isle of Wight’s food producers.
Purchased 18 months ago by David and Liz Walker at A2K leisure, The Albion is managed by directors Mark and Gayle from Sentry Mead hotel. The architecture has been designed by Modh, while Vivus has been responsible for the interior design.
The refurbishment aims to serve as a catalyst for the regeneration of Freshwater Bay, contributing positively to the community.
