The Old White Lion in Haworth on the market for £950k

The Old White Lion, an 18th Century former coaching inn, is being marketed by commercial real estate firm Colliers for £950,000.

The inn includes 14-bedrooms, a 120-cover event space, and two independent owners/managers flats.

As well as accommodation, the building also includes a reception space, bar, residents’ lounge, two large basements including a commercial kitchen with walk-in refrigerator and a rear car park for seven vehicles.

The current owners, the Bradford family, are looking to retire and are selling the freehold after around 40 years of ownership.

The Old White Lion is located at the top of the main high street of the village of Haworth. The village boasts a high street with shops and tea rooms, as well as the Bronte Parsonage Museum.

Currently being run predominantly as a lettings business, the events space which can accommodate up to 120 covers as well as basement and private owners/management accommodation provides opportunities to pivot the business model depending on the new owner’s area of interest.

Robert Smithson, associate director in Colliers specialist Hotels team, said: “The Old White Lion is a charming property which has been well maintained and managed by the current owners. It has a consistent customer-base between its weekday guests and the extremely high draw of the local tourist attractions for leisure visitors, particularly the world famous Bronte Parsonage.

“There are also a lot of opportunities to rework the space within the property to either incorporate more letting accommodation, or make more efficient use of the current commercial elements and enhance the food and beverage offering if that’s an area a new owner wants to focus on. It’s definitely a property which would benefit from being viewed and taking in the surrounding village atmosphere.”
