The hotel, operated by the same family for 26 years, is being sold as the owners focus on other interests. Kabannas, a European hybrid hotel platform, has acquired Hayweight House in Edinburgh, marking its fourth acquisition in nine months as it expands across Europe. Hayweight House will be converted into a hybrid hotel offering a mix of innovative room and bed products across five floors. Kabannas aims to invest over €100m (£84.4m) in micro-accommodation assets across Europe, focusing on the “ultra-affordable” hospitality market. This segment represents a significant portion of global travel spend but is underrepresented in available accommodations. Kabannas plans to redefine guest experiences by integrating micro-accommodation with exceptional experiences and is flexible in acquiring and repositioning hospitality or non-prime office properties. The acquisition involved collaboration with SAMH and advisory services from several firms.
The McKeever Hotel Group, based in Antrim and operating five hotels across Northern Ireland and Donegal, has made two significant appointments to support its growth. Elaine Harkin has been appointed as group revenue manager, responsible for managing business functions across the hotels. Harkin brings over 20 years of hospitality experience, including roles in Spain and various hotels in Ireland. Iris Houston has been appointed general manager of the Adair Arms Hotel in Ballymena. Houston, with nearly 20 years at the Adair Arms, will oversee daily operations and lead its team to deliver on the group’s service culture.

The Georgian, Grade II-listed townhouse can accommodate up to eight guests and offers a unique stay in a prime location.
