The Tawny Hotel in Staffordshire is set to launch Falcon Farmhouse in July, the second luxury rental in ‘The Fledglings’ series on the Basford Estate. These self-catered properties provide guests with privacy and personalised services, offering a luxurious alternative to typical hotel stays. Falcon Farmhouse, a renovated Grade II Listed building from the early 1800s, includes amenities such as an outdoor spa bath, heated infinity pool, and a cinema room. Designed by Louise Platt Berkeley Bespoke Interiors, the farmhouse blends natural materials with heritage elements. It accommodates six adults and two children, featuring a children’s room with a bespoke bunk bed and a “Magic Forest” mural. Up to two dogs are welcome. Activities like private yoga, foraging, and workshops are available.

Holt Lodge Hotel in Wrexham has been acquired by Steven Hesketh and Daniel Gillon, who plan a £250,000 investment. The 37-bedroom hotel, set on 7.18 acres, will see all rooms refurbished within six months. The new owners aim to enhance the 120+ person function suite for local events and sports club activities. Steven Hesketh, an experienced hotelier, views the acquisition as a significant addition to Wrexham’s hospitality scene. The hotel, historically managed by Andrew and Alexandra Smeaton for over 25 years, is renowned for its warm hospitality. Gillon emphasised the community importance of the hotel and their plans to relaunch it fully by the end of June.

A SiteMinder report has revealed that UK hotels are booked furthest in advance this summer among Northern Hemisphere markets, with an average lead time of 150 days. International travellers are significant contributors, making up 41% of hotel arrivals, compared to 32% in 2023. The average daily rate (ADR) has risen by 2% to £259, although this is below the near 8% increase seen across Europe. UK hotels will experience the shortest stays, averaging 1.68 nights. Dalata Hotel Group has opened its second Maldron Hotel in Manchester, creating 32 jobs. The 188-bedroom hotel features the Grain and Grill restaurant, Red Bean Roastery coffee dock, and meeting rooms for business travellers. Located near major attractions and transport links, the hotel is ideal for both leisure and business guests. This opening marks Dalata’s fourth hotel in Manchester and the 54th in their portfolio, with three more Maldron hotels set to open in Shoreditch, Brighton, and Liverpool. CEO Dermot Crowley emphasised the group’s commitment to UK expansion and praised the hard work of their staff.
