TSA and DHS Innovations at Las Vegas Harry Reid Airport

TSA Administrator David Pekoske and TSA officials, along with US Travel Association representatives and members of the Seamless and Secure Travel Commission, showcased cutting-edge security checkpoint technology at the Innovation Checkpoint, located at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, on Wednesday.

The commission was established in January to address the concerning findings of a study on the declining global competitiveness of the United States. The commission consists of individuals who have previously held government positions as well as experts from the private sector. Their main objective is to develop policy suggestions for the federal government in order to enhance the travel experience, boost competitiveness, and foster growth in the country.

During the Las Vegas trip, the TSA and DHS Science & Technology Directorate had a chance to exhibit state-of-the-art advancements that enhance transportation security and transform the travel process. During the tour, members of the commission had the opportunity to witness the implementation of TSA PreCheck Touchless ID on a United flight, as well as learn about TSA’s dedication to collaborating with industry partners like United Airlines and Delta Air Lines to offer Touchless Identity Verification at eligible TSA PreCheck locations.

The commission plans to conduct additional field visits in the upcoming months to engage federal agencies and gather insights on best practices, challenges, and growth opportunities in the travel industry. The commission will deliver its report later this year.
