Windermere’s Cedar Manor Hotel brought to market

A boutique hotel in the Cumbrian town of Windermere has been brought to market off a guide price of £2m.

The Cedar Manor Hotel, located within the Lake District National Park, occupies a Victorian country house and features a lounge, bar and dining restaurant, and 10 luxury bedrooms.

The property was also awarded the Silver award for ‘B&B and Guest House of the Year’ at VisitEngland’s Awards for Excellence 2023.

The hotel has been owned by Jonathan and Caroline Kaye for the last 17 years, who are now selling to pursue other business interests.

Jonathan Kaye said: “I fell in love with the Lake District in my teens. I became a keen fell-walker and trained to be a hotelier after visiting many smaller hotels in the Lakes for family holidays. After meeting Caroline in London and taking her on a few trips to the Lakes, she was also charmed by its rugged beauty. When the opportunity to invest in a small hotel became available, we jumped at the opportunity.

“Moving our young family to Windermere was the beginning of a new adventure and love affair with Cedar Manor. The time is right in our lives to pass on this wonderful, historic and beautiful property for someone else to enjoy. What a fantastic location for the hospitality business and also to live with cosmopolitan Windermere and Bowness but also connections to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Edinburgh and London just a few hours away.”

Joel Osbourne, negotiator at Christie and Co who is handling the sale, said: “This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-established, award-winning Boutique Hotel in the heart of The Lakes. Under our client’s current ownership, Cedar Manor has been tastefully renovated and transformed with an exhaustive and extensive list of improvements, providing luxury in the Lake District National Park.”
