Zanzibar Grand Tourism Expo Brings High Expectations

Organized by the Zanzibar Association for Tourism Investors (ZATI) and KILIFAIR Promotions from Northern Tanzania, the two-day grand exhibition had drawn participants from Tanzania, the rest of Africa, Europe, the United States (US), and Asia.

Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi said when opening the exhibition on Wednesday that his government has been taking serious steps to boost tourism on the island.

He said that the second edition of the Z-Summit and Tourism Exhibition was a vital hub where tourism industry leaders would be connected with the rest of East Africa, Africa, and other global travel influencers and investors.

“The government of Zanzibar remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing the infrastructure and regulatory frameworks that underpin our tourism industry,” Dr. Mwinyi said.

Zanzibar President attracts potential new tourism investors

The Island is currently taking various steps to develop transport networks, energy efficiency, and preservation of cultural and environmental assets which are integral to Zanzibar’s long-term vision for sustainable tourism development.

Taking place at Golden Tulip Airport Hotel, the grand tourism exhibition targets to showcase the abundance of new opportunities that Zanzibar has to offer in its quest to become the top island destination in the world.

Tourism is currently the leading economic garner for over 30 percent (30%) to the Island’s annual income.

Zanzibar Commission for Tourism (ZCT) and Zanzibar Association of Tourism Investors (ZATI) Chairman Mr. Rahim Bhaloo said that ZATI was fully committed to promoting tourism on the Island with full utilization of resources and services to provide quality tourist services.

KILIFAIR Promotion directors Mr. Tom Kunkler and Mr. Dominic Shoo said they had expected many exhibitors from different countries because the business environment in Zanzibar has been improving.

Zanzibar’s strategic position on the East Coast of Africa, its rich culture and historical heritage, its warm beaches of the Indian Ocean, and its temperate climate have all attracted tourists from across the world to visit the island.

The Stone Town and warm Indian Ocean beaches are the best tourist products pulling crowds of holidaymakers to the island. 

Dolphin watching at the Kizimkazi area provides a unique experience on an African holiday where visitors can relax while swimming with underwater creatures to unravel the secrets of nature.
