Today, 37% of Trinidad and Tobago’s population is of pure Indian descent, and the number is slightly higher when multiracial individuals are included.
The largest ethnic group in Trinidad and Tobago is Indo-Trinidadian and Tobagonians, who comprise about 35.43% of the population. Most of these people are descendants of indentured laborers who came to Trinidad from India in 1845.
