Effective June 20, 2024, Qatar Airways will commence operations to the newly-built Manohar International Airport (GOX) situated in the North Goa district, replacing the current Dabolim Airport (GOI) in South Goa, India. The airline will offer a daily direct flight on a combination of Airbus 320 and Boeing 787 aircraft, following the existing schedule.
Qatar Airways is becoming part of the roster of airlines that will be catered to by GOX, which includes strategic allies like IndiGo and Oman Air. With its advanced facilities and convenient location near hotels and public transportation, the upcoming airport aims to provide an improved journey for passengers.
Qatar Airways commenced operations in Goa in 2009, initiating the enduring collaboration between Doha and Goa. The shift from GOI and GOX signifies an enhanced airport journey for passengers traveling with Qatar Airways to more than 170 destinations.
GOX aims to capture the vibrant essence of the local culture through its airport facilities, which seamlessly blend contemporary and Goan architectural styles. With a generous cargo capacity of 25,000 metric tonnes and specialized temperature-controlled handling capabilities, GOX has the potential to become the prime export hub in the region.
Qatar Airways currently operates flights to 13 cities in India, which include Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Thiruvananthapuram.
