The Thames Hotel in Maidenhead, Berkshire, has recently been sold off at a guide price of £2.4m.
Originally built in 1886, The Thames Hotel has built a reputation in Maidenhead for both accommodation and food and beverage offering over the years.
The hotel features 33-bedrooms, an extensive bar and restaurant and an external River Thames terrace.
It has been independently owned and operated under the stewardship of the Owen family since 1994, who has substantially upgraded the hotel’s facilities by expanding its range of services and has significantly widened the hotel’s customer base.
Previous owner, Cliff Owen, said: “Whilst it is of course sad to be selling a business with which we have been involved with for almost 30 years, now is the right time to step back. We wish the new owners every success during their ownership of this great and profitable hotel on the banks of the River Thames. Most importantly we would like to thank the staff, with whom we have shared this memorable journey, for their hard work and dedication over the years.”
Ed Bellfield, regional hotel director at Christie and Co, who handled the sale, added: “The sale of The Thames Hotel represents an exceptional opportunity for the new owners to benefit from a highly successful hotel business with significant repeat patronage, largely due to its continued ownership and continuity within the same family since 1994.
“The reputation and success of the business is testament to the family stewardship over recent decades, combined with its enviable location on the banks of the River Thames. We wish Cliff well on his retirement and the closing of a long-established chapter.”
